About Dreaded Leather

Brick Wall

Dreaded Leather became the natural evolution of what once was Incredible Mrs Limpid.  A solo endeavor into the realm of all natural vegetable based soaps and lotions was a wonderful opportunity to make and then fine tune a variety of personal care products. While I still intend to make and sell the Incredible Mrs. Limpid line of products, including lotions and beard care products, my love of creating goes so much further.

I grew up with a mother who was always creating in her spare time-sewing, tatting, knitting, crocheting, painting, ceramics but also fixing things, and generally being a bad ass. I never really appreciated it for how amazing it is until I was grown. I find myself searching out new ways to create and learn new skills.

In 2017 SLV Creations was born. Crochet, soap making and candy were at the heart of my crafting world. I participated in local craft shows and opened an Etsy store.  Through Etsy, Incredible Mrs Limpid was born. An outlet for a variety of my skills. While selling my creations, I took pride in making a great product, while keeping prices low.

Once 2020 rolled around and turned the world into a darker place, my personal microcosm also began to spiral. Burning the candle at both ends became a way of life. Every aspect of my life suffered for it, including product quality. Etsy, in suit with every other business, increased it's fees. This made it impossible to keep my prices fair and not actually owe them after selling and shipping products.  My day job often consumes 10-12 hours a day, is physically demanding and leaves very little time for a side business, and less for the rest of actual life. My life and business were unsustainable at that pace.

I figured I could create an online store on my own, and tried. The first host was good (so good I came back) but I had no exposure, and no way to change that.  I then fell for empty promises on what seemed like a fantastic store host. I quickly found out how little I know about  coding, and how different their idea of easy was compared to mine.  It was all for naught though. Their version of "for life" is apparently subject to change as well. What was there to do? I hadn't quite given up, but was definitely considering it. The website went on the back burner. The business went with it.

In an attempt to treat ourselves to a little break, my husband and I began to have little outings on the weekend. One of those weekends landed us at a Renaissance Faire and sparked a new creative flare. We began to prepare for the next year and the collaboration that has become Dreaded Leather was born. Leather armour, accessories, and cosplay props have joined the crafting collective.

We hand craft each and every one of our products and are pleased to offer them to you.
